Solar Power for Every Security Camera — No Outlet, No Wires, No Dead Batteries

To the people giving a low rate because you didn’t read that it didn’t come with a camera! Shame on you! Y’all need Jesus and time to read and research!

This was perfect! Came with straps and another plate to screw to a tree or fence .. this worked out perfectly as a side yard cam for my dogs and a bird cam. I almost spent 200$ for another option that I’m sure I needed another app to view it on, until I remembered I had another ring camera I wasn’t using!

With this solar panel, I now can place my weather-proof Wyze cam v3 in the area without the hassles of providing power through an AC wall plug. I can even place the Wyze cam at the storage shed in the back yard where there is no any AC power source. The 9.4-foot-long cable allows me to place the solar panel at the roof location with better sun exposure. It’s very easy to install the solar panel on the roof. All in all, I am pleased with solar panel

5”x7” panel seems very efficient for its size, charging indicator showed active even in low indirect light. The panel charges 2 internal and easily replaceable, non soldered 9.25Wh 18650 batteries, there is even room to add 2 more of these widely available cells. The output is 5v at 0.7A and while marketed as a power source for security cameras you could really charge anything that can support the power level. A variety of gaskets to improve water resistance at the device charging port and a USB C cable adapter are included that provide a wide range of flexibility.
Th manual states that the panel needs just a few hours of direct sunlight each day to keep a camera powered, but as comparison, Blink cameras generally use 2x 4.5Wh internal non rechargeable Lithium cells so you can imagine how long this unit would be able to run a single camera during longer periods of poor light.

For mounting options again a wide variety of options are available. Nylon tree straps, metal pole straps, or surface mount gimbal which attaches by a standard 1/4” thread. There is even a built in compass if for some reason you are installing in an unfamiliar location and can’t determine the path of the sun (panel should face basically South in the Northern hemisphere). The permanently attached cable reaches about 10ft.

I have wifi camera that does not have built in battery.
So even with solar power, it’ll stop working at night, unless I plug into 5V power from home.
This is not ideal for my wifi camera since I cannot run wire long enough.
This solar panel with the built in battery resolve the issue.
My camera can now stay on 24hrs.

This solar panel is great and I actually really did need this. It made me be able to connect one of my security cameras easily in an are where I didn’t really have an outlet close enough. This made it possible and because of the size of the panel it gets enough energy to keep the camera running for a long time. Definitely a great product to consider getting to install a camera that may be placed in an area far from a reachable outlet.

I’ve been using Wyze cameras, both inside birdhouses and on bird feeders for several years. This bird feeder is really well made and designed. I previously had my camera in a feeder that I 3D printed, and this one is far better. The plastic that makes up the body where the seed goes is nice and thick, and very clear. I like the back cover that covers the camera opening, which is something my previous one didn’t have.
Best of all, the perch and seed tray are nice and large which allows several birds at once. My old one was one bird at a time, but I’ve already had three birds at once on this one.

One extra tip for those that like to mod things. As I mentioned, I’ve been using the cameras on feeders and birdhouses for years. The Wyze V3 camera that I have in this feeder, I replaced the lens with a wide angle one so I can see the whole seed tray and perch in the view. With the stock lens, you will mainly see the extended perch, but not the seed tray.

Feeder was easy to assemble and install, replacing a similar design. Color and style fits outdoor better than most. Was able to use an off brand 2k camera via solar panel. Easy to see how much seed is in the large capacity hopper. Kept camera and food clean and dry in storms. Broke down and cleaned quick to store for the winter

I have multiple bird feeder cameras that are not only entertaining but also serve as effective security cameras. I used this holder to install a Wyze Camera. Sometimes you have to turn cameras on and off to reset them so I knew I wanted to install this using a method that was easy to access. I would keep this in mind and also test your WIFI prior to installation. Watching the birds is a bonus, but this offers extra protection for one of our standard security cameras. The fit for the camera lacks versatility, so you’ll probably need to create a solution to secure your camera in place if it’s not a Wyze or similar.
